Fuel Cards a Great Tool for Controlling Costs

Its not uncommon for a relatively standard car to run up an annual fuel bill of up to £2500 (assuming its doing around 20,000 miles per annum).

Across a fleet of 50 vehicles thats £125,000 per annnum!

But there are also the other costs involved:

- Staff time completing, submitting, checking and handling expenses
- the cost of "additional items" such as car washes, plus food and drink bought at the forecourt that are 'slipped' onto the expenses bill
- and the general lack of control of where fuel is purchased, and making sure its actually going into the vehicle it was intended for.

Which is why fuel cards are such an incredibly efficient and effective cost control and fleet management tool.

Not only can they ensure that fuel is purchased from approved outlets (with 95% national coverage), they can also be assigned to the vehicle (rather than the driver) so that fuel can only be purchased for that registration plate.

They can also set up to only accept fuel purchases (no oil, washer fluid, food or drink) and they are a highly effective form of capturing vital mileage data.

"With rising fuel costs over recent years, we've found heightened interest in fuel cards as an effective way of buttoning down expenditure," said Phil Elms, Sandicliffe Motor Contracts' National Sales Manager.

"And as a professional, independent contract hire and fleet management company we offer an excellent fuel card with extensive national coverage and cost control."
